Ein Bericht in englischer Sprache zur Exkursion der 9. Klassen im Rahmen des Thüringen-Sachsenprojektes nach Dresden
On Thursday November 30th we met at 7:20 a.m. at the bus stop "Lusan/Laune".Then when everyone was there on time, we took the bus to Dresden by snow and the morning sun. We drove to the "Militärhistorisches Museum der Bundeswehr" to Dresden. After the long but enjoyable two- hour-drive we arrived safely without any trouble at 9:30 a.m.. Because the museum only opened at 11 a.m., we used the time to take a picture together. Others also used the time for a snowball fight or we were exploring the outdoor area where there were many military vehicles such as jet legs, tanks, ships, helicopter, cannons and more. After passing the time we were finally allowed to go into the museum. Inside we handed over our jackets and got our tickets. At 10:20 a.m. a museum guide welcomed us and told us everthing about the First and Second World Wars that day. She told us intersting information about animals that were used as weapons and means of transport. She also described us the technique oft the V2 and the effects of the drug Pervitin that was used in the World War 2. She also explained what experiments were carried out in the concentration camp (Konzentrationslager) and she let us smell the smell of suffering and death. In some situations we were just too shocked and stunned to speak. The worst thing was the usage of the animals in that time and where they created things out of human skin in Buchenwald. From 12:30 p.m. we were able to explore the museum ourselves and at 1p.m. we went back tot he bus. Many were interested in the building style. Technical progress was also very pronounced and advanced in terms of means of warfare, which many students also found really fascinating. But some oft them were more looking forward to the lunch at the "Bundeswehr-Kaserne" at 1:30 p.m.. we drove back to Gera at around 2:15 p.m.. The return trip was also nice again. Some students slept, others listened to music or played games with each other. At 4.15 p.m. we arrived back in Gera and were allowed to go home. There was something for everyone and everyone enjoyed it. It was an extraordinary day for many of us.
